The Brussels Blog team will be trying something new on Wednesday: a Twitter interview. Brussels bureau chief Peter Spiegel will be tweeting with the outgoing US ambassador to the EU, William Kennard, at 4pm Brussels time/3pm London time, asking questions from the account associated with this blog, @FTBrussels, with the ambassador answering from his official account, @USAmbEU.
Although some serious policy issues will be discussed – such as the just-launched EU-US trade talks and the controversy surrounding the US intelligence community’s data gathering programmes – because it’s on Twitter, we’re going to try to make it a little fun, too, in an effort to get ambassador Kennard to open up a bit about what it’s been like learning the EU’s Byzantine ways over the last four years.
For those who would like to follow the discussion, we’ll be using the hash-tag #FTUSEU. Feel free to send questions to @FTBrussels and we’ll pick some of the best. We hope it will be fun and informative for readers and the participants.
