The new FT Alphaville and Long Room

by Paul Murphy, FT Alphaville editor

FT Alphaville has been refreshed! Our hyper-active financial blog has taken on the new livery and we’ve also introduced some important new improvements to functionality.

Chief amongst these is the new Long Room forum, FT Alphaville’s exclusive comment and analysis arena, where finance professionals are invited to share their research and offer thoughts on the work of others.

Taking its cue from the original Long Room Restaurant & Bar in the City of London – close by the old Stock Exchange trading floor and once a hub of financial chatter – our new digital service offers ideas and opinion from a broad range of analysts, financial bloggers and other self-appointed commentators on anything and everything that might be considered relevant to the financial world.

The Long Room is aimed at professional market participants, who are asked to complete a short registration process.

We’ve also updated the popular Markets Live market chat hosted each day at 11am by the FT’s stock market correspondent Neil Hume.
