Recession and the party mood in Davos

I am afraid I have been a bit distracted from my blogging duties in Davos by Jerome Kerviel, the rogue trader at Societe Generale (forgive me, but I do not know how to insert the many French accents required here in Typepad, which is our blog publishing tool).

Anyway, here is a column I wrote for Saturday’s FT to sum up the week at Davos. I hope to post some more things that emerged from the week over the next few days.

  1. The pigs in Davos.

It was a great week for the swine in Davos who were fed on the left-overs from WEF dinners, parties etc. An item on SF1 Schweiz aktuell showed all the cans of waste (an analysis revealed the presence of caviar) being collected from the back doors of hotel kitchens.

  2. This is how you do it: Société Générale.

The secret: copy the text from FT.com (or anywhere else on the web), then simply paste it. And voilà - you are a master of Typepad in French! (But do not tell anyone how you did it.)

  3. Thank you very much, RCS. I should have thought of that.
