Andi Caruso, SDA Bocconi My internship experience

So it’s been almost two months since I started my internship and I must say, it has been a really great experience! I am working for a tech start-up called DataSift. The company has built a social data platform that aggregates billions of social conversations from across the web (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, millions of blogs and forums… the list goes on!), structures the data, and then streams it in real-time to customers.

The past two months have been filled with a variety of projects for me. I have learned about the latest marketing strategies including inbound marketing, content marketing, integrated lead-scoring and subsequent lead nurturing programmes and I have also used HubSpot, which is a marketing software, to measure the effectiveness of the programmes.

One of my main projects was to develop a content marketing strategy and I have also developed a lead nurturing programme for trial users, as well as had an input in product marketing and creating the marketing assets (data sheets, sales decks, launch blogs, etc.) for three product-launches. As a secondary part of my role, I have been able to use the  platform to perform my own analysis for pieces which has allowed me to learn the filtering language, analyse large amounts of data and then present my findings. This has been very valuable as I have gained more confidence in my analytical abilities and significantly improved my Excel skills.

My intership has been a real eye-opener for me and has helped define where I want to go in the future. As a result, I am quite certain that I would like to work in a start-up on graduation and I definitely want a social data aspect to be involved as well.
