Members of the army rescue unidentified trekkers from the Thorung La mountain pass on the Annapurna Circuit, near Muktinath, in Mustang district, Nepal, 17 October 2014. In total seven dead bodies of trekkers including from Poland, Israel, China and Nepal have been brought to Kathmamdu over the past 24 hours, however the search operation continues for trekkers who went missing in a snowstorm, triggered by Cyclone Hudhud which brought heavy snowfall, which has so far claimed to lives of 29 people, though dozens remain unaccounted for.

The agreement signed in Minsk, Belarus on 05 September between the Ukrainian government and pro-Russian separatists includes a ceasefire, a special political status for separatist-controlled areas and a prisoner exchange. The ceasefire was largely holding, although the government in Kiev again accused the separatists of violations.
