Several hundred of people rallied at the Kiev city administration trying to break the city council session and demand to hold council elections. The credentials of the city's deputies  ended on July 2, 2013, and the opposition insists that their session is illegal.

A Ukrainian opposition activist holds a riot policeman as protesters try to enter Kiev’s city council building on Wednesday. Several hundred people rallied to try to break a council hearing and demanded elections, claiming the session was illegal.

Nigel Frarage, Ukip leader, arrives in Westminster on Friday after a successful night in local council elections. Mr Farage was delighted with what he saw as a remarkable result for the UK Independence Party, which he said put them in with a chance of securing a seat at Westminster.
