A rebel gunmen patrols in a yard of a high-security prison after shelling in Donetsk on August 11, 2014. Over 100 inmates broke out of jail when shells rained down on a high-security prison in the besieged rebel stronghold of Donetsk in east Ukraine, killing one, local authorities said on August 11. A total of 568 Ukrainian troops have been killed during four months of fierce fighting between government forces and pro-Russian rebels in the east of the country, the military said on August 11. Another 2,120 servicemen have been wounded, security spokesman Andriy Lysenko said, as Kiev has battled to oust insurgent fighters in a conflict classed as a civil war by the Red Cross.
