The Kelpies sculptures are officially opened by Princess Anne, Princess Royal and a flotilla of boats on July 8, 2015 in Falkirk, Scotland. Sculptor Andy Scott also attended  the opening, along with Duke, a Clydesdale horse which was one of the models for the 30m works, which have received more than one million visitors since they were completed in April 2014.

Work continues on The Kelpies sculptures at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal on October 10, 2013 in Falkirk, Scotland. The two Kelpie heads are positioned at a specially constructed canal lock and basin part of the Helix project, each weighing 300 tonnes and standing 100 feet tall. The structure was designed by sculptor Andy Scott as a monument to horse powered heritage across Central Scotland.
