Armed Ukrainian forces detain a pro-Russian militant in the village of Chornukhino in the Lugansk region. At least 415,800 people have fled their homes because of fighting between government forces and pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, the UN refugee agency said.

A soldier mans a checkpoint in Sana’a. On Monday, Britain and France extended the closure of their embassies in the Yemen capital after a US warning of a possible militant attack in the region. The Arab country has stepped up security at ports and airports.
