A Sotheby’s member of staff presents a 18th/19th Century Ottoman jewelled presentation sword at a media preview of the Arts of the Islamic World at Sotheby’s, London 

Men dressed as samurai warriors fight with swords during a re-enactment of the Battle of Kawanakajima, which was fought in the mid 16th century, in Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. Every April participants hold a re-enactment to mark the harshest of a series of five battles between two famous warlords, Kenshin Uesugi and Shingen Takeda. The event reflects growing interest among Japanese in feudal-era leaders.
