A wooden model, Cylon, is posed holding a newspaper in the flat of its maker, Dmitry Balandin, in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. It took Mr Balandin, who works as a crane operator, six months to build the model, designing its 500 parts as he went. He says he would love to build metal models but this is impossible in his small apartment. He plays with Cylon as a child would play with a doll or Lego toy, and is now making a girlfriend for it.
