Respects are paid to the war dead during a ceremony at the Yasukuni Shrine on Thursday in Tokyo as Japan marks the 68th anniversary of the end of World War II in Asia following Japan’s surrender between August 14 and 15 1945. The Yasukuni Shrine honours Japan’s war dead from 1867 to the end of the Second World War.
