In many ways the media business is still very local, but it’s also exposed to a digital upheaval that long ago swept across national borders.

That’s what makes it particularly interesting to see how they do it “over there” (I’ll be in London to chair the FT’s Digital Media Conference on Monday and Tuesday – more details here).

Where else, for instance, would one of the main national debates be about how to create a second viable public service broadcaster? And where else would senior TV executives be forced to resign over a promotional clip for a show about the Queen which injected a little too much drama into the subject?? Read more
