Apple Design Award Winners

We try not to spend too much time blowing our own trumpet, so forgive us one small moment of self-indulgence.

The FT’s new app for the iPad, launched last month, has just won one of the first five Apple Design Awards given to developers for the device. The awards come from Apple employees, who were invited to vote on their favourite apps based on “technical excellence, innovation, superior technology adoption, high performance, and outstanding design.”

It’s the only media app among the winners. The others: Flight Control HD, Pinball HD, Star Walk – Interactive Astronomy Guide, and TabToolkit. Full details are on Apple’s website.

You can see a video of the FT’s iPad app on YouTube. If you want more trumpet-blowing, here’s the FT’s press release commenting on the award.

We’ll hold the acceptance speeches, except to say – it’s an awesome honour!
