Apple said to ditch 2011 launch of iPad3

Tech news from around the web:

Apple has ditched its plans for launching new model of the iPad with a Retina Display this year following problems with the high-resolution display, according to 9to5Mac. Apple is set to stick to their annual release cycle and release a Retina Display iPad during spring 2012.

PaidContent has had a preview of Pottermore, JK Rowling’s online expansion of the Harry Potter universe. The website is not fully open until October but it has already been inundated with more than 22m views and some 50,000 requests per second as readers rush to become one of the 1m users chosen to receive early access to the website.

ESPN, the Disney-owned sports network, has bought Australian company ExtraCorp, owners of the fantasy league and sports tipping site footytips, PaidContent reports. The deal gives the US group’s profile a boost in the world of sporting social media.
