Facebook has approached Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC to build a handset with the social network integrated into its operating system, according to AllThingsDigital. Code-named “Buffy” – after the television vampire slayer – the phone is planned to run on a modified version of Android that Facebook has tweaked heavily to deeply integrate its services.
Samsung Electronics, the leading flat-screen TV maker, is in the final stage of talks with Google to launch a television next year using Google software, The Wall Street Journal reports. Samsung is hoping that such efforts will help boost its profit and fend off price erosion in the TV market.
US phone group AT&T has notified its customers of an attempt by hackers to collect online account information, Bloomberg reports. The company said the attempt used so-called auto script technology to determine whether AT&T phone numbers were linked to online AT&T accounts.
