Sony Music, the recently acquired EMI, and Universal Music are all expected to offer MP3 downloads on Google’s music service, which the online search group is scheduled to unveil on Wednesday, Billboard reports. A person with knowledge of the negotiations leading up to the launch of Google Music told Billboard that Warner Music Group is still in talks to join the service.
Nokia is to launch a new music streaming service, MixRadio, on its Lumia Windows smartphone,TNW reports. The Finnish mobile handset group has teamed up with Echo Nest, the US music software group, to recommend music to Nokia Lumia owners based on their musical preferences.
Netflix has added film studio Miramax to its list of partners, including Lionsgate and MGM, in providing content for the film streaming service’s UK launch, PaidContent says. Netflix is scheduled to launch in the UK early next year, competing head-to-head with services such as Lovefilm.
