Firefox to hit Android Market to outfox fakes
Firefox may have disqualified itself from the iPhone, but expect the browser to appear in its Firefox for Mobile version in the Android Market in the near future.
It’s not finished yet, but there are so many bogus versions of Firefox appearing in the Market that its creator Mozilla is considering pushing out the beta version, already available on its website. Read more
Adobe reveals Flash 10.1 on mobile
It’s been a long time coming, but Adobe is finally enabling fully-featured Flash gaming and video viewing on mobile phones with the launch of Flash Player 10.1.
A public beta of 10.1 is being launched today at Google’s annual developer conference for phones running a new version of Android – 2.2, codenamed Froyo. Read more
Skyfire aims high in battle of mobile browsers
While Franรงois Truffaut harshly argued that Britain and cinema were incompatible terms, the same condemnation could justifiably apply to mobile phones and web browsers.
The two just haven’t mixed well. Displaying a standard web page on a small screen has often meant unacceptable squinting and scrolling. Data connections have tended to be slow and problematic, while the lack of multimedia plug-ins has ruled out video and audio being played. Read more
