What’s in a name?

September 5, 2007

Lulu Well, it had to happen. Lulu has just sued Hulu.

Never mind that the former is an online book publishing company, the latter the name just adopted by the new joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp. On the consumer internet, truly original - and suitably catchy - names must be getting hard to find.

"We like the idea that it rhymes with itself," a Hulu spokesperson was quoted as saying last week. Seems they didn’t check what else it rhymes with. Can lawsuits from Xulu.com and Boohoo.com be far behind?

  2. no surprise here…Murdoch from News and Zucker from NBC are as creative and friendly as an icepick on steroids , Murdoch did his big money as Board member of Philip Morris Tobacco with Slim Helu, another darling from the Monopoly Dark Side, and Zucker is turning NBC into the NeoconCenter for the Millenium Wars , or how to profit from death and blood,so most likely they will go to Court and with their usual know-how the CASE will go for them and their money….

a real question for FT is : why and how wealth has become many times a negative force in the History of the Human Race ?, after all, many a wealthy person becomes really ugly, arrogant, greedy and instead of CREATING PROGRESS, PEACE AND GROWTH FOR ALL, THEY JUST DESTROY , WHY AND HOW CAN WE REVERSE THIS STUPID TREND ?
