- Microsoft is an early beneficiary of the stimulus plan. The software giant, which is sitting on $20bn in cash, was awarded $11m to help construct a highway overpass connecting two parts of its Redmond, Washington campus.
- Big Blue is about to get wet. With its new Strategic Water Management Solutions, which IBM is announcing at the World Water Forum in Istanbul, the technology behemoth will get into the business of managing water resources. The initiative is the latest move demonstrating that IBM is increasingly moving beyond traditional computer services.
- Facebook, which has resisted offering vanity URLs until now, may be changing directions. But with their new Pages, which are for businesses, bands and celebrities, the social networking site is offering vanities such as www.facebook.com/U2. Will vanity URLs for individual users be next?
