Coffee shop discrimination update

I am enjoying the quality of comments on this piece, reporting a small survey that finds evidence that women are served more slowly than men at coffee shops. The comments tend to hint at the same point: it is very hard to pin down discrimination for certain. What is so interesting is the number of different explanations of the result.
Latest explanation: the expert barista Jacob Grier points out that slow service might be a sign of quality.
