Gordon Brown was quoted in the Sunday Telegraph today saying: “Of course I’m wearing a British suit…the great British brands will find a way through.”
This reminded me of a moment last summer as I was following Margaret Curran (the Labour PPC) around a kilt factory in Glasgow East during the by-election.
A manager was discussing various cloths while just yards from a rack devoted entirely to the “Gordon” fabric. I asked him whether the “Gordon” was a best-seller. “Not at all, one of our least popular to be honest with you,” was the response.
