David Amess: The MP who campaigned against Cake, the fictional drug

On one level you shouldn’t be too surprised to find out that Tory MP David Amess has been embarrassed over his questions on the Maldives.

This is, you may recall, the MP who took concerns about Cake (“Remember: Cake is a made-up drug”) to the House of Commons courtesy of Chris Morris and Brass Eye. The picture above shows Amess grasping a ludicrous-looking giant “Cake” pill.

There were other major clues that the whole thing was a stitch-up. For example, it was said that Cake “stimulates Shatner’s Bassoon – the part of the brain that regulates time perception”. Noel Edmonds also signed up to the campaign.
