This morning’s Labour press conference wrapped up with Gordon Brown gushing about how his wife Sarah was the love of his life:
Lord Mandelson did not seem overwhelmingly enthused.
His response: “Isn’t that lovely? Goodbye.”
UPDATE
Meanwhile Paul Waugh is bemused by the business secretary not seemingly knowing who “DelBoy” is. I’m sure this is just an arch affectation, just as Mandelson claimed not to know who Michael Jackson was on the day the world’s most famous singer died. From the FT interview:
George Parker:
“Do you want to start by paying tribute to Michael Jackson, Peter? Everyone else seems to be doing that.”
Peter Mandelson:
“I’m not absolutely sure who Michael Jackson is. Is he the…he’s called Jacko, isn’t he?”
