Some of the media maps have been unveiled over the past few days. There are some wonderful gadgets that often excel at doing very different things. Our award winners are:
Best overall map: Your licence fee has been put to good use. The BBC map does pretty much everything you might find useful and more. There is an excellent swingometer (not sure about the mug shot of Jeremy Vine). And the results page/profiles are pretty impressive. Shame they couldn’t combine the two.
Best constituency colour: Sky take it. Some poor soul in Osterley has been toiling away at the constituency profiles for months. They’ve done a good job. Every one of the constituencies write-ups includes one or two golden nuggets of detail. And the tone is a bit less earnest than the BBC.
Best election analysis: Which seats does Cameron need for a majority? Which races will be affected by the expenses scandal? The Times does a superb job of identifying the constituencies that matter.
Best marginal profiles: Stick with the FT. A sharp breakdown of the economic changes and social make up of 20 key seats
Best public services profiles:The snazzy Telegraph graphic includes a rating for health, education and crime in every constituency.
Best 3-D Swingometer: The Guardian wins hands down, although even 3-D chess players will be baffled by the maths behind a swingometer that includes all three main parties.
