Clegg’s search for a new party enforcer

An intriguing ad was placed today on the w4mp website.

The hunt is for a new “chief of staff to the chief executive and political secretary to the deputy prime minister”.

The title (which is almost as long as titles at a trade union) made me immediately think of some new Leo McGarry type to act as Clegg’s representative on earth.

But it is not anything as fancy.

The job is based in the Cowley Street Lib Dem HQ, rather than in the cabinet office. It will involve helping out Chris Fox, the Lib Dem chief executive, while acting as a link between Clegg and the party. Important but probably not as important as the title suggests.
