I wrote a few days ago about my gut instinct that Boris Johnson would win next year’s London mayoral elections.
Today’s YouGov poll puts Boris ahead by 48 per cent to 41 per cent, a clear but not exactly decisive margin.
Drilling down into the questions yields some interesting analysis: Boris (as I would have predicted) is vastly more charismatic at 50 to Ken’s 18. He is also (curiously) seen as more “honest” at 24 to 17.
Ken Livingstone’s strengths are that he is seen as a natural leader (19 to 13) and “in touch with the concerns of ordinary people” (37 to 20), which will be key to his chances of unseating the Tory incumbent.
